Overview
A relaxed private day in Hangzhou: ride to the West Lake hills, visit ancient temples, enjoy panoramic lake views from Nafu Yuntai, and stroll the lush Botanical Garden with your own guide and car.
About This Tour
Spend an easy, unhurried day discovering the green hills that wrap around Hangzhou's famous West Lake, all at a gentle pace and entirely private to your group. Your English-speaking guide and private driver collect you straight from your hotel in Hangzhou, so there is no early bus, no crowds and no rushing.
Your first stop is Fahua Temple, a peaceful century-old monastery tucked into the hillside, where a stupa holds Buddhist relics and the air carries the quiet of old Hangzhou. From there you continue to Lingshun Temple on North Peak – founded in the year 326 and one of the oldest temples in the city, locally known as the Temple of the God of Wealth. The viewing terrace here opens up a sweeping panorama of West Lake spread out below.
A short, easy walk along the North Peak path brings you to Nafu Yuntai, a hidden lookout above Majiawu with one of the broadest views over the lake and the whole of Hangzhou – a wonderful place to pause, feel the breeze and take photographs. You then explore the Hangzhou Botanical Garden, shaded and beautifully landscaped, with seasonal flowers and the famous "big Buddha head" sculpture at the Han Meilin Art Museum.
A relaxed local lunch is included, and the whole day is tailored to your pace – walk as much or as little as you like, linger over the views, and let your guide share the legends and history behind each spot. This is authentic China at an easy rhythm, with comfortable transport and personal attention throughout, ideal for travellers who want culture, nature and great views without any strenuous hiking.

Traveler Reviews
One of the best days of our trip. Hangzhou is a must, and the private format is so much better.
The local insights in Hangzhou made the difference; places we would never have found on our own.
